A pre-planned spontaneous gear check while Im out in the woods all by my lonesome self.

A final note on the Gerber knife. I've really come to get frustrated with it, not able to put a sharp edge on it. I still maintain it COULD be my technique though.

  • I'm a big Ka-Bar fan... love their products. The Large Heavy Bowie is a beast. I understand some hikers/campers/outdoorsmen don't like to carry a blade that big, but that is just a matter of preference. I've had mine for about 6 months and have nothing but good things to say about it.

A little too much nutnfancy love though...

  • @IR0NM1K3 Yeah, maybe a tad too much. I guess I was more or less poking fun at him actually, since every time he mentions a piece of gear, he also throws in whether or not he's reviewed it LOL

I chopped up some squirrel with my Heavy Bowie today :)

  • Hey nice review i just put a vid out on the obsidian i like it but there are some things that could be changed to imoprove it. Anyways this was a good vid thanks.TTS

  • @TheTacticalsurvivor Thanks! I'm sitting here at work trying to put a much more gradual edge on it. More like 10* instead of going for 15 or 20. I'm still bad at this but it feels like I'm getting better results than I had before. still not REAL sharp though.

  • @Verilioness Sounds like it was a good time :D I've been hiking with my family (as a small child) in the Alps and had a herd of cows follow us around LOLI admit I was kind of panicked too. Cows dont really respect the "personal space" boundary well and they were RIGHT on our heels for a while. Your dad seems like he was a really cool dude.

  • @Gtrsnax I have great memories of raft/innertube floats with Dad before we lost him. One involves a herd of cows walking up to us in the water, while my mother panicked, my Dad chuckled and us kids had a blast! :D
