having these 2 movies back to back is as closes as they get to each other.."THE BLACK CAT" is a classic of it's genere..BORIS KARLOFF AND BELA LUGOSI are both at the top of their games.BRILLIANT..this movie is claustrophobic..there's no way out. highlight, KARLOFF glancing to the heavens and proclaiming with that lisp"he has an all consuming horror of cats". "THE RAVEN" not so good, at least for mid 30's audiences..too confusing..too wild..too much..KARLOFF, treated is as camp..LUGOSI, serious.

Oh man that is one of my favorite movies of all time! It has almost the same drive and motive as Sweeney Todd, with a twistedly insane erotic element, and then of course throw in your satanism and you get one of the most chilling thrillers ever!

nicely done!
Thanks for including the scene from "The Black Cat" that used the allegretto from Beethoven Symphony No. 7 (nearly 3 decades before "Zardoz")!
evwen though in the beginning of the black cat they say "suggested by the immortal edgar allan poe"if u ever read the "black cat" it is nothing like the orginal storyline. even though bela lugosi hates cats the movies storyline is very different! idk about the raven though i never saw it

This is true but being inspired by something is much better than just copying it; think of the unlimited variations.
