I thought this was an excellent film and Demme employed an interesting style to convey the story. Sorry Schmoes - and everyone be warned - this is not a "date" film unless one is in an "intellectual" mood.
Patti, in Mark's defense- he loved this film, I hated it beyond words. I have found it is love or hate with this film, I agree that Demme did some great stuff but it was so painful to watch.
And don't say sorry ever! We love when people tell us that they think we are off the mark! Love the honesty!
I have no desire to see this film. I can only think of one time I walked out on a movie and that was during the last film in a triple-feature back in the '70s.
Sounds awesome. Can't wait to see it! You guys crack me up. i enjoy awkward movies... and jerks... so there you go. Have you seen Bride Wars yet? A chick flick that you WILL get a hand job after... and you get to see Anne Hathaway in shorty shorts. What a deal.
Wow...this film is seriously for people who can handle something a little more real...if you don't understand why it was shot the way it was, or the music was only played when you see it, then don't watch it. But if you're a real compassionate person who loves great film making, then see it. Many critics say it was the best film of the year and I agree. (Sorry if you thought that was mean just getting thought out!)

I rented this movie. About 40 minutes into it I turned it off. I re-watched it the next day to give it another chance and it wasn't as bad.
Some of the scenes are too drawn out and seem pointless. But the themes like self-forgiveness and battling addiction make it interesting.
I guess it's one those movies that grows on you.
