Special Report: 2008 Beijing Olympic Games

The Beijing Meteorological Bureau says there's a strong chance of rain on the day of the Beijing Olympics Opening Ceremony.
Weather forecasters predict a 41 percent chance of rain on August 8th. Meteorological bureau head Guo Hu says artificial rain reduction will be conducted if needed on that day. However, he says that measure could fail if there are large heavy clouds containing a lot of moisture.

So far this summer, Beijing has experienced the heaviest rainfall in 10 years. Precipitation totals in the city have been 70 percent above average.
