It's interesting that my aba also gulps from the surface like that occasionally. My water quality is perfect- no nitrates, undetectable phosphates... Perhaps they have something like a labyrinth lung, or require more oxygen than most tanks provide. :( It's confusing. By the way- great tank! :) The layout is fantastic. The tank inhabitants all look healthy and active.
