I was recently in Derry watching the Apprentice Boys or their sympathizers setting up for their parade. They had erected a HUGE bonfire over 40 feet tall, and they had fastened about 30 Irish tri-color flags to it.
Now, I understand the pride they had in defending their own. As an American, that makes sense. I understand remembering it with a parade. That makes sense.
What I cannot understand is the need to burn the Tri-color, a flag meant to represent Protestants and Catholics evenly.
