Tarek bin laden's company has proposed building a bridge across Mandeb Strait on the Red Sea, to link Djibouti to Yemen.
The proposed bridge would carry a six-lane motorway and a railway.
a new city is to be built on the Djibouti coast and called Madinat al Noor (City of Light) and would create 100,000 jobs and stretch over 375 square miles.
estimated cost : $70bn

  • that would be wonderful , I heard the architecture theme of the planned city is "light" hence the name of city.

  • they said that the delay was due to the crisis in Yemen and they now expects the agreement to be signed soon. The crossing will be the first bridge to link the Arabian Peninsula with the African continent. Denmark's Cowi has drawn up a preliminary design for the 28.5 kilometers bridge.

  • it is said that Bin Laden head of Al-Qaida will have his Headquarter of their :P, hehe so im abit pessimistic about Al-Qaida units distributed over their..how secure will this city be and what are the odds..and why do they still talk about islam or a religious city ! common get over it religion should be kept at home only not in public !
