@cshargeit I know the version which eventually made it's way onto album was in f major. It's possible that's where you're getting the bflat from. I think this version is in f major too.

i remember ripping off this music from my local music store- which means i read the musical notation... as i remember it was in Bflat.

Yeah, morover, if you notice the way he sings, especially at the beginning, he has that particular countryish style (ex- 0:18), typical of the Elton John or Tumbleweed, that from Madman on, he seems to have lost. This means it was quite long before the Madman recordings...
