Now HERE'S a beautiful flute that I've been dying to give the tunnel test! As with most Middle Eastern flutes, there's really nothing in this Magen Avot scale flute from Russ Venable that can be played that won't sound good. I'm still in my early days of fully exploring what this instrument can do, but here is a small sampling. This fairly begs for a lively percussive accompaniment!

  • Nice Bruce,

Looks like some of the holes are different in size? Enjoyed it.

  • @chessdude67 Yes, you're right; some are of different size. There's also a thumb hole on this one. It's got quite a nice range as well. They're $185.00, which is a steal if you ask me (which you didn't, but I offered it up anyway. "Thanks, Bruce!" ;))

  • I've been thinking of talking to Russ about a Celtic (mode 5) tuned flute - I understand he makes an extraordinary flute! You do a great job with this one!

  • Takes me back to Turkey...nice !
