This performance of my flute and piano composition, Lament of the flutes for Dumuzi, took place at Paddington Uniting Church, Paddington, Sydney, Australia, at the October 18 2003 Aark Ensemble concert. The flautist was Sarah Broughton and the pianist was Katarina Kroslakova, both of Aark Ensemble. The organizer of this performance was Paul Smith, the wonderful conductor and artistic director of Aark, who has also conducted extensively with Opera Australia and many other prestigious organizations, in Australia and abroad.

Such was the audience's response to this performance of Lament of the flutes for Dumuzi that several subsequent performances of the work were organized by Aark, at the Great Hall of Sydney University and elsewhere.

Lament of the flutes for Dumuzi recently gave rise to a "sister piece", Invocazione a Dumuzi for violin and piano.

The photos in this video are of my own "Dumuzi"--my son, Anthony Michael Tiutiunnik", born on June 24 1996 and his little brother, Benjamin Joseph Shilberg (son of Harold Shilberg) born August 2 2008. Anthony underwent successful surgery for the removal of a brain tumour, at Sydney Chidren's Hospital, on August 29 2010. This was a difficult rite of passage for all of us.
