Patchwork Landscape is the first video clip of French synthpop duo Dataraper.
The track was inspired by the life of mythical Ian Kevin Curtis. Ian was the singer of the English post-punk band Joy Division. His acute sense of despair and ill-health, leading to his suicide in 1980 has ever since left fans devastated. 2010 being the 30th anniversary of this tragic disappearance, seemed the perfect time for this poignant homage to be released.
"Patchwork Landscape" is Dataraper's personal vision of Ian Curtis's demons & the story of Joy Division. Here, the band see eye to eye with a warring German aviator on duty over some enemy climes. The military servant begins feeling the torments of the civilians his mission is to bomb and gets at being haunted by the sad memories of victims, as if they were his.
The song is excerpted from latest Dataraper's ep "Naught Man's Land", a brooding musical production published in May 2010 and available at cdbaby.com.

PATCHWORK LANDSCAPE
And nothing never happens,
Lost in the mileage,
Lost in the wombs.
Where have you been,
Where are your so called friends ?
Born and living alone.
Nigel, Nigel,
My angel, my angel,
Something broken on the floor.
The flat fields are in my mind,
I regret what I have done,
Cry on my pillow.
Where have you been,
Where are your so called friends ?
Born and living alone.
Nigel, Nigel,
My angel, my angel,
Something broken on the floor.
For them to forgive me,
He will need to forgive me,
Forgive us all.
Nigel, Nigel,
My angel, my angel,
Something is broken on the floor.
