Donna performs "Among The Young" in the 1964 AIP film "Pajama Party". Donna was the "Dr Pepper Girl" and contractually, her employer demanded that she preserve her clean image by not showing her navel. You will see Dr Pepper products displayed conspicuously in all five of the Beach Party films she appeared in. Along with Donna Loren, this fourth film in the Beach Party series starred Annette Funicello, Tommy Kirk, Don Rickles, Dorothy Lamour, Buster Keaton, Elsa Lanchester, Harvey Lembeck, Jody McCrea, Candy Johnson, Susan Hart, Bobbi Shaw. Donna's dancing beau was Michael Nader, from the daytime soap "All My Children". Scene location was at Paradise Cove in Malibu, CA.

Donna Loren was the one-and-only "Dr Pepper Girl" from 1963 to 1968. She was signed to a long-term contract with the soft-drink company to sing all television and radio commercials, do all magazine and billboard advertising representing them in every capacity, sometimes sharing the spotlight with American Bandstand's Dick Clark. This relationship led to her touring in Dick Clark's Caravan of Stars with other popular acts like Diana Ross and The Supremes and singing solos in the popular Beach Party films starring Annette Funicello and Frankie Avalon. Later, she became the regular female vocalist on the popular 60's American live rock n roll TV show "Shindig" and she appeared in singing and acting roles in many iconic TV shows like Batman, The Monkees, Gomer Pyle, The Mothers-In-Law, Red Skelton, Milton Berle and various game shows. She's released 22 singles, an album and 2 CD's. Ms Loren is currently in the studio again making music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJ-wN37G2rs

  • Lovely voice

  • @garyp4205 Are you claiming that movies that featured black performers were accepted throughout the deep South in the early to mid-60's? You know, there had been outrage and sponsors pulling ads when a white female singer had gently touched a black singer while performing on a TV variety show in the 60's.

  • @gvt2u WTF?

Why are you race baiters always showing up to whine?

Go look at "Bikini Beach", which was made in 1964, same bunch. Donna Loren, Candy Johnson, Jody McRea, and of course Frankie and Annette. Not only was one of the band members of "The Pyramids" black, this was one of the first appearances of "Little Stevie Wonder" who sings everyone out of the movie. This is one of the best of the whole series. Race had no part in any of it. It was a fun movie.

    YOU are the racist!

  • The ending was a bit otp. but man she's perky! I imagine her to move like that even when she's not singing.

  • @kevlar21059 LOL i was thinking about Shout when it got to that part. =)

  • Dig the rave up @ 1:36

  • @bluehairspaz Back in '64 I was only 1. I first saw her on a Saterday afternoon beach movie marathon in the mid seventies. She sang "It Only Hurts When I Cry" and I fell in love.

  • @buckrind ditto. though she was a teen i think.

  • I wonder if they had allowed one black person in the background at the party if the film could not have sold in the South.
