@tteu123 Yes the books are magnificent, but however, the movies are great Hollywood productions. Most movies that are made from books are never quite as good as the books. But the Guy Ritchie versions are also great.

@tteu123 I have read them too, and I can't but disagree with you. I believe that in fact this version is very close to Doyle's version. Yes, it isn't a strict adaptation (no movies that come from books ever are), but they have to add to it that old Hollywood/movie charm. It wouldn't sell so well if they didn't. Plus, not to mention, I think that since Doyle only wrote his stories (he didn't make a play or movie with them), then we lose the tiniest things used to communicate thoughts and ideas,

@madseadog Sherlock Holmes survives everything :)

Are you drinking embalming fluid?
Yes iam

@tteu123 Well all right, if you don't like the modernization of Holmes, then don't watch any of the spinoff's like these movies or BBC's Sherlock, etc. Oi, you're such a debbie-downer. Get over yourself.
-
@MxAxL Well if they aren't trying to be like Sherlock then they shouldn't be using his character. They should, as you said, create their OWN eccentric little nut.
This defames Dr. Doyle and I wonder who's the idiot who gave them the rights to use Holmes in their film.

Oh and you've must have seen the stage plays, radio plays, and all the television shows you are a wonderment of nature you are! Pfft.
-
@tteu123 Yes, wonderful. Tell me are you the first one ever to read the stories? Is this the very first movie you've watched based or loosely based on Sherlock Holmes? Because wow if you are you must be at least 212 years old! Durrr! =p

Considering most people I know can barely stand the smell of formaldehyde, I'm rather impressed that he managed to drink it.
And I thought Robert Downey Jr. was a great actor with normal American accent, but this, this is gold.

In case you were wondering: Formaldehyde is highly toxic to all animals, regardless of method of intake. Ingestion of as little as 30 mL (1 oz.) of a solution containing 37% formaldehyde has been reported to cause death in an adult.
