@cinnireseisri id say darky day had its origins also at that the beltain bofires and are associated with chimney sweeps ( being a bringer of luck / fertility ) ... they would use the soot from the fires to rub on there faces thus endowing them with fertility from the land / crops in a primitve fertility rite .... ppl mistook this along with the morris being a morrisco or moors dance
