Christian Hill Billy on Chromosome 2

Christian Hill Billy came into the Debate Faith room on Stickam and stated "There is no evidence for Evolution". I then asked him what he thinks of chromosome 2. Christian Hill Billy then states he has not researched any material on Chromosome 2. I asked him to research the information and post a video on the Debate Faith Forum.

I had a strong feeling he didn't, but just encase, I asked because I wanted to make sure; as the video would have been hilarious. Just the site of a man trying to refute something that no creationist with the necessary credentials can refute would have made my day XD

To be honest, I was disappointed when I finally realized he wasn't going to even make an attempt at a reply. I had my hopes that he was intellectually honest enough with himself to actually look into it. Especially since it was one of the pivotal evidences that steeled my acceptance of evolution.

Chromosome fusion is not unique to chromosome 2. There is also a paper written on the inconstancies of the ERV argument. Most people do not realize that of all the the tens of thousand of ERV's, only 7 occupy the same chromosomal loci in humans. Thanks to ENCODE we also now know that once indels/insertion & deletion events, copy number variations of alignable sequences are added to SNP's/single nucleotide polymorphism, the total differential in human & chimp genomes is only 70%.

My study of ERVs took place in my university biology classroom/lab days. I haven't tried to use YouTube or websites as a source of knowledge. I've seen a few clips or articles here and there, but those only scratch the surface.

Anyway, I'm sure the info is out there on the web, I just haven't needed to look for it. I'll private message you some info, and I'll look around and try to get back to you.

If you think chromosome 2 is compelling, wait until you study ERVs. Then, man, it's game over for any anti-evolution argument. There is no way any reasonable person can study ERV insertion points in DNA and NOT conclude common ancestry. *ONE* ERV would be pretty convincing. But, there are HUNDREDS (and more being discovered all the time) across the entire animal kingdom confirming common ancestry, not only of apes and humans, but many other species also. Slam dunk for evolution.

@michamus Well what response can there be? I'm a Christian and just discovered the ken miller video on the Chromosome 2 and I don't know what to say. I don't believe the Earth is 6,000 years however, but rather at least 4 billion years. Please everyone no arrogant comments.

phylogeny is a recapitulation of evolution, also comparative embryological studies is fairly obvious

It is simple if the conclusion/theory is not supported by the facts, then you change the conclusion/theory. Right? Unless you're a faithful follower of brother Hovind or brother Ham, then you change the evidence until it fits your conclusion/theory. (They really don't have a theory, but don't tell them.)

It is just the way that works. It is a good thing for ignorant, superstitious people, they will believe what they are told. Obedience = good over evil!
