The non-verbal communication says it all. Asked about what they told Italy's Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi at Sunday's euro crisis talks in Brussels, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Nicolas Sarkozy respond with smiles and then go on to say that their call on Italy to present further reforms before Wednesday's second euro summit.

After being severely admonished by French President Nicolas Sarkozy and German Chancellor Angela Merkel at a summit on Sunday, Berlusconi issued a statement saying that nobody in the EU had the right to nominate himself commissioner and teach lessons to other governments.

Berlusconi also hit back at France and Germany, hinting that the real cause of the euro crisis wasn't Italian overspending, but the greed of their banks.

"In what refers to the turbulences of sovereign debt and the bank crisis, in particular the French-German one, we have firm positions which we will outline at the next EU Council," Berlusconi said.

    Merkel is popular there, so I doubt, it seems that the "domesticated nazi", will be reelected.

    France is far from german level too. Italy is the second largest manufacturing country in Europe after Germany, not France.

    And your german economy will fall apart when the euro will disappear and this will happen soon so auf wiedersehen ^^

    good to know man, concidering Merkel, we have elections in six months, so the tone of german ruling Party is very hard one, ist directed towards german conservatives. But after elections, who ever wins will have to make compromises with other countries who are currently in financial Troubles anyway. Please, take that into account if you hear anything from Germans pointed at your Country at the Moment.
