The non-verbal communication says it all. Asked about what they told Italy's Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi at Sunday's euro crisis talks in Brussels, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Nicolas Sarkozy respond with smiles and then go on to say that their call on Italy to present further reforms before Wednesday's second euro summit.

After being severely admonished by French President Nicolas Sarkozy and German Chancellor Angela Merkel at a summit on Sunday, Berlusconi issued a statement saying that nobody in the EU had the right to nominate himself commissioner and teach lessons to other governments.
Berlusconi also hit back at France and Germany, hinting that the real cause of the euro crisis wasn't Italian overspending, but the greed of their banks.
"In what refers to the turbulences of sovereign debt and the bank crisis, in particular the French-German one, we have firm positions which we will outline at the next EU Council," Berlusconi said.

Setze deine Energie für das neue Deutschland ein, und schreibe hier nix rein von wegen Hitler war großer Wirtschafter oder Stratege. Er war es nicht, sonst hätte Deutschland damals gewonnen. Also zum Glück war er es nicht.

In a normal situation in Italy, with a government formed by more than 4 parties facing a 100% obtrusive opposition, they can barely pass any a reform. This crisis has forced Italy to finally pass the reforms that should have been passed 10-15 years ago. And the two enemy big parties (PD and PDL are enemies, not rivals) now support the same agenda, even if it was against their electoral program.

@WeriTR The multiple strikes by unions and private lobbies against Monti reforms (pensions, deregulation, simplification) are showing how hard is to reform Italy. Extremely hard, actually. One powerful (communist) union called today for a general strike in March against a labor reform that the government has NOT even launched yet. When Berlusconi tried a deep labor reform 10 years ago, a gigantic strike and millions protesting in street stopped him.

First they talk about PanEuropean unique identity, but then they (France and Germany) separate the countries which are good or bad to them. They cheat all the time. Actually each country has several identities, cultural backgrounds, faiths, etc. There's not one and only as they try to do. Hey, we are 27, not 2. Otherwise, the founding countries are the only who rule here: France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. We will continue to be USA & Israel little puppets.

France & Germany doesn't represent the 27 EU countries citizens. When echonomy was good, we were all the same, but now they create the levels, and then the rest of EU Presidents, happily lick Sarkozy - Merkel asses.
