Metro-North Harlem Line deadhead M-3As thru CP 5

While stopped for a red at CP 5 in Mott Haven, Bronx, NY, on Train #2458 (deadhead from CP 19, turned from Train #457), this southbound Harlem Line deadhead equipment move, Train #2364, from Crestwood (turned from Train #363), passes by crossing from Track 4 to Track 2 at CP 5 at Mott Haven, Bronx, NY ("MO" Junction lies right behind us), with a 10-car consist of M-3As.

why did they never mix m1's with m3's on trains like the LIRR did? were they not compatible on the metro north or did they just chose not to?

Though on LIRR they are both compatible, for some reason on MNR, there are electrical compatibility issues since they both began sharing rails in 1983

To my knowledge this has not been done, but I am sure it has been thought of otherwise.

Well I am making a note of that switch where that bad joint making all the noise is located. That should be reported, but then again there have been lots of MOW activity at CP 5 and the Harlem as of late.
