*****UPDATED 10/22/11: PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS BEFORE WATCHING!!!!****
Okay, I've gotten some comments (and even PMs) regarding my choice of cast for this video, so I decided to answer some of the more frequent questions so nobody has to take the time to write a huge long comment about something I've already previously discussed, either in this video or one of my others.
Q: Why is your cast so white/American/not Japanese/unlike my opinion of what a Sailor Moon cast should be?
A: Okay. As an anime fan, I would *love* to see all American movie adaptations of anime feature a Japanese cast. It would be extremely cool. But the truth is, there are simply not enough Japanese-American actors/actresses both young enough and good enough to play Sailor Moon characters. Speaking from an Asian-American point of view, acting is simply not a career we would usually consider, and definitely not a career our parents would normally want for us. Now, this isn't stereotyping, nor am I saying *all* Asian-Americans are like this, but the truth is, many are. So although there are plenty of Japanese people living in the US who speak perfect English, not all of them will be actors/actresses, just like not all white people are actors/actresses.
Also, it's a matter of appeal as well as a logical business approach. As much as I hate to say this, a movie with an all-Japanese cast showing in the US would only appeal to anime fans, and Sailor Moon fans at that. Believe it or not, that's a very, very small demographic. The fandom itself may seem large, but that's on a *global* scale. Once you look at each American city that would be playing this hypothetical SM movie, there would probably be only 50-100 people who would go and see this, probably even less. So, as a way to bring Sailor Moon to a wider audience in the United States (as in non-fans), it would make more sense to use American actors/actresses. Making a Sailor Moon movie both stylish and mainstream may not be what the anime fan wants, but it's what the general public would like to see. And if a movie like that garners enough popularity, then it would draw more fans to the original series, making it easier for companies like Toei and Funimation to consider a redub, relicensing, re-release, uncut boxsets, etc. It's an American *adaptation*, which is why it needs to ADAPT to fit the culture here.
Q: Why is this an adaptation of manga/anime? It should adhere strictly to the original anime/manga because it's more well known/more true to Naoko's intentions.
A: This is a hard question to answer, because in the beginning I wanted this hypothetical movie to be a manga adaptation. But then, I watched the PGSM live action, and realized that it doesn't have to be a direct adaptation of either versions. It can be something all on its own, just like PGSM. A direct anime-to-movie or manga-to-movie would just be pointless and redundant. Any movie/remake needs to be able to stand on its own as something different and special. A Sailor Moon movie would need to have elements of both the manga and the anime that originally appealed to the general audience, and then have its own qualities that make it shine. Otherwise, it would just be boring. Can you even imagine the monster-of-the-day plotline in a live action movie? It would be so cost-ineffective, as well as long and drawn-out. Once again, an adaptation is just that: it needs to ADAPT.
As a parting note, I'd like to say that I'm not trying to be rude to anyone in any way. This video was not meant to cause drama, but I've noticed that anime cast videos seem to attract a lot of hate. This is purely FANMADE. FANMADE FANMADE FANMADE FANMADE FANMADE FANMADE FANMADE FANMADE FANMADE FANMADE FANMADE FANMADE FANMADE FANMADE FANMADE FANMADE FANMADE FANMADE FANMADE FANMADE FANMADE. As in, it was made by a fan, and not a real cast video. I did it for fun, and in no way am I a representative of any organization that could possibly make a Sailor Moon movie happen.
I love hearing other people's opinions, I really do. It's just tiring to type out the same explanations again and again, so I'm putting all of these on here. If I see a comment that raises a point that hasn't been mentioned here, then I will reply, but if it's for that one question, then I will just ignore that comment.
Thanks for watching, and I really appreciate all the views, comments, and everyone's opinion on this.

Well...having the cast look like the characters was pretty much...95 percent of the whole point of this video.
