whisky review 158 - Knob Creek 9yo Bourbon @ 50%vol

...Named after Abraham Lincoln's boyhood home in Kentucky, this is supposed to represent old-school, pre-prohibition Bourbon, .... but it seems like a very modern version to me.

I still sit down to Bourbons because they are a change of flavour and variety of flavour helps sustain an interest in Spirits. Tequila reviews later this year.

"Advertising" is to satisfy the so-called masses.

To me, Knob Creek is the Coca Cola of whiskey. It's designed to appeal to the sweet tooth American palate. If you want something a bit less skewed for a good price, Four Roses can be a nice example, especially the single barrel version. If you ever have the privilege of trying old Stitzel-Weller whiskeys such as the OLD (Louisville, not Frankfort) Centennial 10 year, you will find a much less cloying liquid with nice spice and a long finish. I know that you can't find that stuff anymore.

@yeahitsk I think woodford reserve is the best burboun i've had. Bit hard to get here though
