  • Romney is supposedly leading in Florida. What a tragedy if any pro-lifers vote for him!

  • And a Republican who is willing to let a politician pass on something like that -- willing to excuse the cheapening of a human life -- is fooling himself about being "pro-life".

We need some serious, solid values in the Presidency, and in the Republican Party. The reason the GOP got trounced in 2006 isn't Iraq - it's because Christians like me stayed home because no one in GOP leadership is interested in values anymore.

  • As a pro-lifer -- a serious hard-core pro-lifer, I'm certain that no one who really believes there is a right to life (i.e. an unborn child is a human life) would ever agree to use taxpayer funds to kill babies, much less push an insurance program that makes having an abortion as easy to afford as going out to eat!

Get real -- Mitt's a pro-abort, and is just lying about his record to get votes.

  • Also, it's untrue that Romney never pushed pro-abortion legislation. As Huckabee has been pointing out, he strongly pushed for legislation in 2005 or 2006 that would have provided abortions for a $50 copay (the taxpayers picking up the rest of the hundreds or thousands of dollar bill!).

He's just a slick politician who wants what he wants like all rich, spoiled children who never grow up. He'll say anything to get elected, just like Hillary.

  • Designtoad,

Actually, it's well established that Romney "considered" running for Governor of Utah in 2001, leading up to 2002. In political terms, "considered" means he was basically running for several months before thinking better of it, and was appearing in the news as a possible candidate, etc. He even established residency there, where he lived most of the time, which threatened to throw a wrench into things when he instead decided to run for Governor of Massachusetts.

  • How can you call yourself pro-life if you are not willing to accept conversions of people in high places. Doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of our movement. We should rejoice and embrace politicians that now support life even if they didnt before.

  • ACP -- I'm perfectly willing to accept a conversion from pro-abortion to pro-life!

But the fact that you miss the point of the ad makes me wonder if you're just a shill for the Romney campaign, spinning this...

The fact is that Romney HAS had conversions -- OVER AND OVER! I'm not going to trust someone who "converts" back and forth every time he stands before a new group of voters who believe conflicting things.

  • acp39, this is not about Mitt Romney's conversion. The ad is aiming to highlight Romney's use of the issue of abortion to manipulate voters. Would a true convert go back and forth on the issue of abortion to pander to voters? I think not. Romney is no convert... just a shell of a man willing to adopt any position if it aids him in his pursuit of power. I am frankly surprised that the subtleties of this ad are lost on you...

  • Mitt Romney reminds me of a ROOSTER on top of a barn which ever way the ROOSTER is blowing that will be ROMNEY'S position for the day.

  • Love it just posted on facebook.

  • Who wants a candidate with actual achievement in the real world? Executive experience? Executive experience in elected office? A law degree AND MBA from Harvard? That took Mass budget from a $3B deficit to a $700m surplus? That saved the Olympics? Oh, he changed his position on abortion - right. Hey didn't Obama change HIS position on: public campaign financing, bringing the troops home, closing Gitmo, Bush tax cuts, NAFTA, FISA wiretaps, debt ceiling, terrorist trials, etc. etc.

  • You know arguing against an insignificant issue such as abortion is so stupid to be decided by the federal government. That's why we have the 10th amendment, so a State decides issues like these..it's the fundamentals and the political platform you should vote on, then you look at the issues because I am certain that you wont find a person that meets your values completely and even if there was there would be tons upon tons of people running for president, it would just be more complicated.

  • I feel bad for you guys.

Must suck being a hopeless minority

  • Though I am myself pro-choice (that is, I think it should be legal just for the sake of blunt practicality), I respect very much that you -- as a Pro-Life individual -- are willing to call Mitt out for his pathetic, I'm-a-gonna-get-me-some-votes "change of heart." The sad thing is, he may have been Pro-Life philosophically during his time in the private sector, which would mean he's changed his "public" opinion twice just for the sake of being elected. Putrid and pitiful.

  • There is a difference between supporting the law (ie pro-choice) and personal beliefs on the situation.
