The following is an animated video explanation of modes used in scanning ion conductance microscopy (SICM). The SICM can operate in DC, AC and hopping mode for scanning the surface of living cells in buffered solution. All of these modes are available on the ICnano from ionscope Ltd. The newest mode is hopping mode which allows the user to scan cells with tall features, such as microvilli or cilia without contacting the cell. SICM allows users to image living cells in solution, without contact, over long periods of time and the nanoscale. The system bridges the gap in high resolution live cell microscopy. You can observe your cells without fixation, dehydration or metalization.
