I understand that he really didn't need to hit him that hard, but this is hockey. Body checks are part of the game, and this being Orpik, he likes to hit. Skinner ought to know who he's playing against. The league certainly has clamped down on dirty plays, but (I could be wrong, my memory's fuzzy on this) as far as I remember Orpik didn't get suspended for this.

clean hit, but this is exactly what the league wanted to avoid, make the player play the puck instead of playing the body. Orpik didn't care if Skinner had the puck or not, he went for the kill.
