What steps should I take if I see mortgage problems in the near future? If you know of or think there may be a change in your employment situation in the near future, try and set some money aside to allow you to make your mortgage payments in the future. Your mortgage payment must be the first bill you pay each month. If you anticipate having problems making your payments, contact your lender as soon as possible to work out a solution.
