This is a really interesting topic... The federal government has a goal of awarding 23 percent of the total value of all procurment dollars to small businesses. With that in mind, it is mind blowing that nearly 1/3 of that 23 percent or more than 135 billion dollar per year, goes to smal businesses in the DC area. Given the 50 to 86 percent of all federal small business contracts awarded to Fortune 500 firms... One might say that small business outside of DC have almost no chance.
