Rachmaninov: Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor Op. 18
i) Moderato
Clifford Curzon (piano)
London Philharmonic Orchestra
Sir Adrian Boult (conductor)
In this recording, Curzon shows himself to be adept in music with which he is not normally associated. The recording was released in 1956 on the Decca label and the reviewer in Gramophone wrote that the disc was "as good as any" and particularly commended the balance.
Ths surface of the LP from which this upload was taken is rather worn, but the sound mostly comes through intact!
Artwork is by Isaac Levitan (1860-1900)
