@ronstadtfanaz Monotone? what version are you listening to. I just listened to the version in my favorites...that's what you call Monotone? The name of the song is after all: "Down So Low" than Tracy belts it out. I think you are being ridiculous. I just listened to Linda's older version of: "Long Long Time"...I found it superb, perhaps Her signature song. I doubt if Tracy could sing it better; Linda owns it; Tracy owns "Down So Low". Least I'm fair, realistic, and unbiased.

@97448able Ronstadt's version is a refreshing change to Nelson's monotone version is all I am saying. She may have resonance, depth and soul but there is no range there. Nice try.

@ronstadtfanaz As I stated earlier, it is apples and oranges. I may not be qualified to critique the various singing styles technically; however, Tracy's version "moves" me and sends shivers up and down my spine, others have reported the same. What more could you want? Tracy has: range, resonance, depth, and "soul". In comparison Linda sounds weak; she does try hard though.

Tracy does not need Linda Ronstadt, Tracy's talent speaks for it's self.

@ronstadtfanaz For some historical perspective, I recommend listening to the UR-original version by Tracy and Mother Earth from '68. Unfortunately, the person who posted it here on YouTube felt the need to distort the track somewhat (for copyright reasons supposedly), which is a shame. Just search "Down So Low" and "Mother Earth"

@97448able Tracy's version is good and she has a decent voice but she belabors a note which can be a bit irritating. One could argue that she wrote the song and can sing it anyway she wants (which is true) but on this song I think Linda does a better job. Total shame the two didn't collaborate on more songs than Rock Salt and Nails. They sound so good together.
