I have always been amazed at Weather Report's (Zawinul) ability to make something so complex and still immediately listenable. To me it's the hallmark of true genius.

Wayne just kills it! As time has passed that sound of Zawinul's solos is really sad, almost comical. You've got this great fat bass of Jaco's and that deep beautiful tone of Wayne's and then this silly moog that's just everywhere...bad news.

zawinul practized on a beaten down Klavier with reversed keys in an old house near vienna to see what's happening to scales and for the fun of it. that's what i've been told from my friend Herman Prigan, ever heards of "Release Music Orchestra"
