Me (Blue on right) sparring at my first TKD tournament. I am okay so don't worry ,the only thing that hurts most is my pride. I end up losing to this guy, but I still placed second. Not bad for my first TKD tournament! Tips and constructive criticism if you want to leave some.

  • if you have had a proper defense with your arms that kick wouldnt have hit you at all ;P

  • The defense for any spinning kick, a roundhouse, a tornado, anything like that is a straight pushing kick to the chest area. Right down the middle, fast and hard! The time it takes to complete a move like that leaves them completely vulnerable.

Also, you need to test your opponent first. A quick strike followed by an immediate backpedal will let you test your opponent and see what they are capable of.

Maybe we'll see you on the circuit one day....gl!

  • must weird to watch yourself go down like a sack of potatoes in slow motion :P

  • @oldenha back kicks are definitely the most powerful kicks but he wouldn't have gotten knocked out if he had his hands up...with that being said...I admire him for posting a video where he gets knocked out

  • @PyozGaming not everyone puts there arms down for the same reason, we all have different instructors. I've actually been told that too, but that its more for not telegraphing.

  • @Talbuk It wouldn't have really mattered? :P a back kick is designed to make its way through anything ? :P

  • thats why they say to put your fuckin hands up at all times!

  • @Hyperbladex7 Sorry but its absolutely not why we fight with our arms down xD. Where did you get such information?! WTF TKD is more of a sport than a martial art so fighters are focused on scoring points to win the fight. Thus keeping your arms on the side makes it easier to block body kicks and avoid getting scored. Higher level fighters will find it really easy to dodge head kicks, so we rather concentrate on blocking body kicks. Hope this makes sense.

  • Asshole

  • That's our student David Garcia. He's a 2nd degree black belt now and still in the competition circuit. He teaches full time for us and attends college. He's a great guy but when you walk into the ring you never know who your opponent is going to be. This kick was incredible timing and show great technique. He was BoDan and about 15/16 during this tournament.

  • but he still got knocked out
