"Read in the Name of Thy Lord" — It is the duty of parents to at least, start their own children off, on the road of learning how to read. Mother is the first teacher, and she actually teaches her child from within the womb. Words carry weight, but actions speak louder than words. When our children experience their own parents reading, and more importantly taking the time to read with them, this stimulates the desire in them to get involved in reading.

All children are different, and a dedicated mother and teacher has studied her children and knows them best. She knows what methods to employ in order to draw out the hidden ability buried in each of her children. Allah has deposited talents in all of us, and education is the manifestation of these glorious talents. We owe it to our next generation to initiate the digging process.

All Praise Is Due To Allah.

  • Lovely video

  • Thanks. Funnily enough, this video is the one that launched our youtube careers. I put it together using a digital camera that could only shoot 15 seconds of movie at a time. It took my about 2 days to complete.

The thing that kept me going was that it was such an important subject. There was no script, I just decided to do it one sunny day when I saw the children reading to their mum.

  • Goodwork on the reading and home schooling. Even though it looks hard, I am sure it is just as rewarding. You should look up John Taylor Gatto, he is an award winning American school teacher that talks about how bad the school system is.

    PEACE

  • Thanks for the heads-up. It is hard but very very rewarding. At the end of the day, we don't really have an alternative if we want to break the cycle.

  • really beautiful video. Your children are beautiful (I have a 5 and 4 year old, myself), their enthusiasm for reading is beautiful, and your passion for their education is beyond noble. My wife's keen on home schooling our two, and I sent her a copy of this vid.

  • It's hard but rewarding work. I try to help Mrs Icha out as much as I can with their physical education and exercise which takes the form of football and training. Go for it! you will be able to see the difference in next to no time.

  • I don't think you need to homeschool for your child to be successful. I was reading proficiently when I was three because I attended a preschool where value was placed on teaching children to read early. I still carry those values with me today, and I could read at a college level when I was in 8th grade.

Still, I commend this, and I wish more parents and schools put more value into books these days :(

  • Uhm that's Lauryn Hill, one of the most respected people in the Hip Hop culture. If you're going to speak* or comment on a mature topic, cut the bullshit.

  • Thank you so much for making and uploading this video. I have an 8 year old little girl and she's been struggling with reading for 4 years. This video is such an inspiration. Thanks again for sharing.
