@dshw btw: Who proves your words right? Aren't you speculating a lot, too? How do you prove that sending people to Hell is a nice hobby for God?
And please show me the evidence, name sources, write full arguments and not just a thesis and one nice sentence. You need examples, proof that there are no sources. I am no one to give up on a few nice sentences. Come on. Do it. Follow my lead and argue for real.
@dshw [...] Paul was often refering to persons, eye-witnesses still alive at the time he wrote the letters. I think there were a lot of people asking these witnesses if the stories were true. Imagine the eye-witnesses said that it was a load of shit, then the truth would outlive the lie for sure. In these times the spoken word was a lot more worth than the written one and the spoken ones were moving fast. And no one would die for a lie, but really a lot of people died cause of their belief
@dshw [...] The imperator Hadrian's secretary Sueton wrote about Christians that were named after a certain Christus (Annalen 15.44).
Josephus, the best-known jewish historian, wrote about a guy named Jakobus who was a brother of Jesus. Later he describes Jesus as a prophet and miracle worker (Antiquitates judaicae, i.e. 18.3).
I googled like 5 seconds, the time I needed to typ "proof for jesus".
Okay, you were searching for eye-witnesses. [...]
@dshw Yes but that isn't what happens. Christian reward is not biased on works, only on faith. So the bad people go into heaven, and the good people go to hell. Just because they are not gullible. He is an apparently all powerful god, yet that is the best system he could come up with, lol simply laughable.
@dshw And one more thing about evidence: Normally an ancient person's life is said to be proven when there are a few independent sources that were not more than 200 years written after the person's death. The letters by Paul are proven to be real and are written within less than 50 years.
Furthermore is it proven that the Romans were hunting Christians down and burning places. Why would they do that if there was no Jesus at all?
@itchygonads Okay. Guess you're (a) god and you want to have the perfect place for the people that love you. If you let all people in the good ones are just again victims of the bad ones. So you have to make the hard decision to choose. And of course you would choose the people that want to follow you, want to be with you and not the guys that are not even interested in you as a god.
@dshw There isn't. There is not a single eyewitness account, nor any personal evidence. A few righters talk about what they heard he was like. But no eye-witness accounts.
I have nothing to say to the rest of it...It is just opinionated, speculative nonsense. Just another way for religious people to wriggle out of providing evidence.
He clearly does enjoy sending us to hell. Considering the vast majority of us go, he could change the rules...But he doesnt. He enjoys is clearly. No-one can deny.
@dshw [...] He is just too much above us. That's the answer I have about God's omnipotence.
Ehm... No one ever said He's enjoying sending us to Hell (which does NOT mean 'burning forever' but 'being separated from God, love and all the good stuff forever' like Sisyphos, but a Hell of a lot worse).
Sorry for being pissed off. Sometimes I get the wrong intonation on the web.
Actually I hope to answer some questions here and there, really.
@itchygonads there's a lot of evidence of Jesus' life, people that did not follow his lead and wrote about him, such stuff. We did define the word 'omnipotent', so who says our definition is the right one? I mean imagine a 2d-person was told there is such a unbelievable thing as a third dimension out there. The little 2d-guy would try to imagine what it would be like but could never ever really describe it as it is a 2d-figure. I think it's the same with us and God. [...]
