So what did you do to fix it?

Did you send it in? Im not willing to pay 160 plus taxes to fix a firmware issue they caused. Plus new slims are 299.

i pretty much wait 6 months to a yr before i buy a new console, i never buy it the day it come out.

hey chadshadow, why did you record your update? It's great and all, but you lost a PS3. I'm sure you were kind of aware of all the problems people were having with it. I for one am one affected by this "blueray reading error" problem.

What motivated you to record this? or even update it to 3.01 for that matter?

i always record the updates just in case, it been a habit for me. as for getting it fix im waiting on the next firmware, to see what happens.

I actually did and the errors are still there, cant play games, blue ray or my ps2 games. I call up sony and spoke to them about it, as soon as i mention about it, he ask me by any chance was it on a original 40,60, or 80 model, I said yeah he then reply yeah you going to have to send it in we cant fix that issue over the phone. O.o i was kinda curious why he ask if it happen on a older model, he would not acknowledge on it and just said send that one to us so we can replace it.

Ask to speak to a supervisor... NO, you do NOT want to pay 150$ to get it fixed. Tell them to release a FIRMWARE FIX. If they get upset or hang up on you, call back & start over.

After hearing all the news about this obvious swindle of a bricking update, i'm now going to sell off my 40 gb ps3 while it's still in good health. I haven't had a chance to update it any during the year I bought it except for when I bought GTA 4. Just when I was about to have internet speeds that would be capable of doing anything with my PS3.

What about the tons of ORIGINAL PS2 games i already own,i never touched pirate games to support the game companies,and Sony.I never modchip'ed my PS1,PS2 so i could support the game developers and you Sony!What will i do my PS2 games?They sleep in some huge boxes now!Was removing the BC a "Thanks for your Support" for me,Sony?Here comes my "Thank You": I will NEVER EVER BUY PS3 until i will see it will run my 524 Original PS2 games!And no,i will not buy an another PS2 console for the third time!

Why u ppl update?Well I know to play online,to buy psn store,2 play latest games,but u know,the only way 2 stop Sony and its bs is we most ppl stop udating.Let's say 2 Sony:U screw my ps3,then Im not buying more games 2 u.

Older or newer systems they DONT HAVE THE RIGHT TO FUCK THEM.

Dude, that sucks. Someone on the Official Playstation forums directed people to this video. You have to show other websites, like Giantbomb and IGN or Gamespot etc, this video.

Plenty of people have this problem but you're the only one that has proof of it.

man same way i felt when my ps3 didn't play bluray then i checked up online 150bucks to fix it screw that shit... sonys firmware fault. they better fix it.. also a launch date model that never gave me any problems.
