I haven't seen anything from Makoto Shinkai yet, but I like Hayao Miyazaki and Mamaro Hosoda almost equally; maybe Miyazaki a tad more. They're two of my favorite anime directors. :)

I've only seen two movies from Shinkai, and two from Hosoda. As great as they are, I really like Miyazaki more. There's an awful lot I don't like about mainstream anime, and Miyazaki bypasses most of that. Plus, his movies have strong resonances of Disney magic in them, which is unusual given that he's not Disney at all. But since that heart-warming aspect is present in his work, and since I love Disney so much, he wins out for me...

5 Centimeters per Second - The best movie from M. Shinkai. Hishi wo Kodomo - The worse movie from M. Shinkai (too large inspirantion of Ghiblies Movies). Of course Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo and Summer Wars I like.

Makoto Shinkai are not even close to Miyazaki . Shinkai ain't so good like people think. For Shinkai clouds more important than story.

ok now im making it my goal to watch all their movies:D i kinda like makoto shinkai slightly better though because of children who chase lost voices but all are great.......thanks for showing the vise versus of each directorXD
