RUMOR: 'Modern Warfare 3 will be a CoD4 prequel'

'Modern Warfare 3 will be a prequel to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare', writes Jason Andrews from www.thisisXbox.com. He obtained this information from an anonymous source within the gaming industry, who has previously leaked other reliable information and screenshots. The source states that the game will tell the story of Ghost, a Task Force 141 soldier which we know from Modern Warfare 2. The game will play prior to the events that happened in Call of Duty 4 and the player will revisit locations from both Call of Duty 4 and Modern Warfare 2, but this time from Ghost's point of view. He also says the game is going to be developed by Infinity Ward, that apparently has restored itself and hired new developers, after the Infinity Ward scandal of last year. The game will not be called 'Modern Warfare 3' and the developers will use the engine from Modern Warfare 2. According to the source, the game will be released this year.

Ah we first ran this story last year... this rumor was indeed true, it was also detailed to LA Times and Official PS3 Mag from the same known industry source. Activsion had Sledgehammer developing this game, and it was later scrapped at the same time they moved Sledgehammer to go work on MW3 with Infinity Ward. Later taking some prequel parts into the story, hence why in MW3 you revisit MW1 and MW2 in small parts.
