Quicksilver Messenger Service with an outstanding outdoor performance in 1969. From Ralph J. Gleason's "Go Ride the Music" produced for KQED. This excerpt is presented under fair use for educational purposes.
IMHO the finest Quicksilver Messenger Service performance available on video!
:)
P.S. You might want to consider buying the DVD; it's inexpensively packaged with "West Pole" and has a ton of previously really rare & unreleased material on it.

True concert footage of Quicksilver Messenger Service remains rare, and any hardcore fan of the band will want to get the limited edition 3 DVD set "Recoil" which includes never before seen video (seen by me anyway) of Quicksilver Messenger Service live in concert! A truly bitchin' extended psychedelic version of Who Do You Love is my personal fave! Watching the duel lead guitars of John Cipollina and Gary Duncan is something to see!
anyway, get "Recoil" here while it's still available

Wow, I really dig Gary's "icepick in the head" tone! I didn't realize he was so good. Who is the guitarist in the white, though? I thought John and Gary were the only guitarists in QMS.

That is Dino Valente, aka Chet Powers, aka aka, about whom many have very strong feelings, and can be seen wailing away on "Fresh Air" here on youtoob. Perhaps the most noteworthy of his compositions was (Lets) Get Together (covered by many and a big hit for the Youngbloods), which he allegedly sold the rights to cover legal costs over a drug charge. His original demo is posted at this time youtube.com/watch?v=i8xpHGR7EI4

This whole era happened because young people were willing to tune in, express their outrage, and change the world. WTF happened ? Where are the youth today? Playing f&*king COD all day?

Nice air guitar, that man in the striped trousers! But seriously, the audience seem oblivious to the fact that they are witnessing a classic performance, or maybe that was normal in those days. Anyway, I think that version is actually better than the album and quite amazing sound quality considering what equipment it must have been recorded on.

Great clip, but I didn't see a single shot of the piano player, who was surely the one and only Nicky Hopkins.

Do you think everyone in the video is on acid? Or just 85%?
