The top three are a tough call and I would have to add the THING. My opinion would change depending on the age I watched them. As a kid Godzilla and the Thing terrified me. As an adult Forbidden Planet's sophisticated story and special effects were easily the best. The Day The Earth Stood Still was very sophisticated and gets second, followed by The Thing then Godzilla. Again that's my opinion and like assholes, we all got one.

Sorry man, but Destination Moon is a piece of crap... And Invasion of the Body Snatchers Should be the Number one.

You missed some really great moives. The Thing (From Another World, 1951), THEM (giant ants) It, The teror from Beyond Space (to name a few) could have easily replaced Robot MOnster, Invasion of the Saucer Men and The Day the World Ended,

@hydrolito You got that PERFECT, man. You have great taste.

Plan 9 from Outer Space was number 10? I always thought that it was the worst movie ever made.

Dude... Optimum List! 50's Sci-Fi was the high water mark of the genre! From the high production value A-pictures, down to the silliest schlock flics... these movies were alot of fun! Pity they just can't (or won't) recapture the spirit of those old school films!

Invasion Of The Saucer Men,was ripped off COMPLETELY by Attack Of The Eye Creatures, lol even that cheesy one-liner was ripped off word for word XD

@TomatoeAssassin So where is a picture of Lady GaGa not in staged makeup, also was it an average or just photo that turned out bad? Over the years I've had pictures of myself and some looked bad and some good so depends on clothes, lighting, hairstyle, etc. Yeah Maddonna looked good in movie Dick Tracy, and Cameron Diaz in movie the Mask but don't think either look that good in everyday life as most pictures I've seen of them didn't look that good so you might be right.
You forgot the sci-fi block buster that Hollywood locked away in the archives. Some say that it was because the technology to make that film to look so realistic was not yet available at that time. The technology to make that kind of movie didn't come along until almost the 80s. Hmmmm.

That last picture at the end was incredible!
That alone was worth watching.
Thanks for posting.
(Oh, and Patricia Neal wishes she looked as good as she does in that Day The Earth Stood Still poster.)
