This is a motion simulator I built from scratch. I used a dual rocking platform with the main structure rocking in the X-axis and a double media rocker that is actuated back and forth in the Y-direction. Video is displayed on a 42" LCD screen attached to the main structure. The uses (2) 2 1/2" cylinders using (2) 5 way 3 pos valves closed in the middle. Motion control is accomplished through a Velleman V110 USB project board using X-sim Open Source software. The entire unit is run off off of one laptop (A $250 compaq EVO N620c". I am running the VGA output at the rear of the laptop to the 42" TV and the laptop is cofigured for split screen. This allows me to view the x-sim profiler on the laptop screen while the rollercoaster simulator is displayed on the TV. I am using 4 hydraulic door closers to dampen the movement.
The X-sim software is running "Force Injector" that captures the telemetry data from the NoLimits software so no pre-programming is needed. X-sim software can also be used for POV movies (you program actions with a joystick) as well as many games. The movement in the X-axis can be increased but I found this to be a good comprimise between speed and stability.
As you probably can tell this is currently in my utility room...
nice!

Of course not - the idea is you just sit next to it and watch the seat go up and down, it's very entertaining, though tricky to watch both the seat and the screen at exactly the same time.
