  • @TomAntosFilms

First of all: Big thanks for your tutorial, very helpful!

I've got one question: Do you first make a rough cut and then select the clips that you want to apply effects on and bring them into After Effects, apply for example muzzle flares, back to Premiere and then the color correction and exporting? It would be pretty helpful to know the workflow. Keep the good tutorials and your work! :)

  • @DieJoeShow THNX! Yeah I edit in premiere, then once Im happy with the edit I lock it down... meaning I don't change it, I link the shots that need VFX into AE, do the fx work there and then once that's all done I do my final color correction and sounds in Premiere and export the video.

  • @DieJoeShow It's really easy to take the clips into AE from Premiere :D It have a new function so that you (FROM WITHIN PREMIERE) can open the speciffic clip in AE, edit and save bla bla bla, and when you go back to Premiere you will have the edited clip ready to be cutted and moved around in Premiere :D

  • wat is tHis Editing called?

  • Could someone help me? :( How do you get/upload the export presets like HDTV 1080p 24fps HIGH QUALITY etc. like Antos has? By the way, is there a difference using presets or just clicking 'match current sequence settings'. Which workflow is better?! Please help me! Thanks.

  • What kind of laptop are you on?

  • One question .. for the H.264 preset. Does the Level setting under Basic Video Setting affect the quality of the video?

  • Thanks mate. I never really knew the difference between 1.0 and 1.4 etc. Pixel ratios - now I know! :)

  • @OCUBOX yea dynamic linking is awesome and gets things done faster. Adobe made each program support the other which is very useful.

  • Great! This was a good tutorial, but i have some questions. :)

I have a camera with 720 p. Which setting will give me the best setting for a dvd and one for youtube?

    H.264, mpeg2 or what setting?

We are making an action movie, where we is filming with a 720 camera and a 1280. Will it be best to scale the video down to 720, when there are just as many 720 as there are 1280 clips?

  • lol omg i actually tryed the app apptrailers on itunes,

used bonus code 4386729 and it worked.

SPAM THIS IF IT WORKED FOR U TOO!

  • @WantedTom I was going to say the same thing, but add that that feature was only introduced with CS5. Earlier versions don't have it. I don't even bother looking for a preset anymore, and do this with every new sequence. Also, your project settings don't really matter. Most of the settings you will probably never need to change, except for the name and where to save it, and have no bearing on your export settings.

  • @OCUBOX

MC 5.5, I haven't tried the latest version, don't plan on it either :P

  • Great video! I have a quick question: How do you organize your folders for a video, for example, I got the footage, edited footage, sound, and miscellaneous stuff related to the video... thanks!

  • One more things, thinking of Editing as a career? might want to learn how to use and master AVID [wow I sound like an avid salesman!] jeez!

sorry peeps, use whatever you're comfortable in!!! :)

  • Hey Tom I'm answering your questions mind replying to YOUR viewers! :P

    William.

  • @JakubTilecky LOL you don't say. . . still though they're all just tools, I do like the was the programs in the Adobe collection communicate using dynamic linking! that feature was EPIC!

  • @WedshankProductions create one, which version of Premiere Pro are you using?

  • @OCUBOX after effects is used mostly for effects not to edit, thats why you use programs like premiere pro

  • If you don't find any presets that fits (I for example don't have the DSLR presets.. for whatever reason)

You can create a project with a random preset, import your footage, and drag one of your videos to the 'new item' button. That will create a sequence with the exact same parameters as your footage.

The project will not have the good parameters but the sequence will.

(Hope it's fine when exporting ?)

  • @OCUBOX I tried to, but there isn't any for 1080p video.

  • @WedshankProductions change your freaking project settings ;)

  • @justanotheraccount unstable and uncluttered? are we talking about MC 5.5 - 6 here? but hey I use Premiere when I'm doing quick edits, but when I need to play, MC is my only choice, one more thing HOW do people edit in AE o.O

  • @TomAntosFilms

Whenever I import footage to premiere pro, the resolution is 720 x 480 30fps, even though I shot in 1080p 24fps. Can you help?

  • @OCUBOX

I've got that at home as well as Premiere Pro since I need to know Avid for work, and I always use Adobe given the choice. In my experience Avid is unstable and cluttered, whereas with Adobe I've got everything I need and better integration with software like After Effects and such.

Another thing is that Adobe are in a much better position to keep their products ahead of the competition, because they have experience in many different types of media software/technology.
