Footage Shot During Earthquake in Virginia 2011

*This is the only live video shot during the earthquake that i've seen so far.*

At 13:51 on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 a magnitude 5.8 earthquake struck 58 miles to the southwest and it was felt in Woodbridge, Virginia. Seconds later i grabbed my camera and hit record as i ran from the shaking house.

The sound is the most dramatic part. You don't see much while i'm running out of the house, but you can hear the rumbling and house shaking, and by comparison how it sounds afterward.

@whatelse123 It probably *should* be, but i typically see things in terms of capturing photos and videos. And grabbing the camera and recording all happened on my way out, so it's not like i wasted any time getting outside.

@bobzzz23 i knoo its not normal for an earthquake to happen there but it was to much exageration for just 1 simple quake.

@miahz ok??? have u been in a huge quake, no so why lamee? nd yes i used to live in mexico city, my parents and the rest of my family were actualy on the 1985 mexico quake which destroid half of tha city.

@jose68967 Clearly, the quake was significant, which is why we are all talking about it. The last time there was a quake of this magnitude in Virginia was 114 years ago. And this "1 simple quake" was felt from Atlanta to Canada. Even West Coast quakes aren't like that. So no, it isn't exaggeration.

And, yes, actually, i was in San Francisco in 89.

Wow that was a pretty strong jolt was not that strong in New Jersey but we did have a rocking motion for about 20 seconds.

I've never felt an earthquake before (Hence where I live) but by the looks of the video, that looks pretty damn scary!
