yes this is it, ron says that a murder was being planned in another room...then there is stills from a fanzine which did an article on the birds, which shows ron wood in his underwear...

Ronnie Wood used to be cool? get out of here!

Are they the same band? No. The Byrds were American-- the Birds, British. They were contemporary to one another, and the Birds did sue the Byrds over the name similarity. This referenced in the song "Eight Miles High."
Are they equal bands? Hard to compare the two since they focused on the opposite sort of sixties rock, but I'd say neither is better than the other.

one question : The Byrds = The Birds?

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who dug the "suedehead" look Birds! Ditto on The Rockin' Vicker's "It's Alright" amazing track!

Never knew about the Birds in Canada. But, a MOJO Magazine CD had "Leaving Here" on it. A great band...launched Ronnie Wood!

Brand new version of this song recorded by the relaunched Birds featuring original lead singer Ali MacKenzie available from thebritishbirds.co.uk NOW!
Lemmy has said on more than one occasion that the Birds were one of the best live bands he ever saw. Motorhead's cover of "Leaving Here" was, in fact, a tribute to the Birds' version.

Isn't there a story in his biog where he travelled down to London in the mid 60s, turned up at the Wood household but Ron and Art(woods) were gigging so their mum offered Lemmy the couch to crash out on. Ah, the romance of RnR! Talkin of the period, dig Lemmy's fretwork on "Alright" by the Rockin' Vickers. It's smokin'.

Too bad he got elbowed out in late '66 for taking the initiative and trying to organise band affairs. Btw tell him that I think the pronto skinhead gangster look they were going for shortly before he left was well cool.
