@telshiar They did predict the coming of the spanish conquistadors, and in their callendar they mark it as the beggining and 2012 is the end of that cycle.

For centuries people have all the time thought of "world's end".Example: Christians in middle age spent all their money because they thought that year 1400 will be doomsday. Some people just don't learn. Sure, 2012 will have some spectacular changes, but end of the world? Yeah, when 21st december passes, another idiot may think that: Oh wait, we have calculated wrong, it's 2013. For the love of...there won't be world's end. Maybe later after few billion years but not now.
