OK, so brostep is a nickname for aggressive, American-style dubstep. Some people call it a subgenre, some people don't. Your choice. The reason it's called dubstep is because it has similar characteristics (130 - 145 BPM and half-step beat). It's easy to tell the difference between the two styles, which is why the nickname "brostep" was created.

Oh, it's moombahcore alright. It's 110 BPM, and has elements of dubstep (brostep) and Dutch House.

Here on YouTube and in North American popular culture, any aggressive sounding bass is called dubstep. Just search dubstep mix on YouTube see what comes up. I have been listening to what I think of as dubstep for about 3 years now. I still have no clue about anything related to it due to the fact that I am not some sort of fanboy.

Bangarang is more like Brostep. Not moombahcore.

Well, it's basically the half-step beat and sub bass. Brostep is pretty much it's own genre, even though it's around the same tempo and also has a half step beat. But dubstep has sub bass and brostep is focused on mid range, so that could be the number one thing that separates the two genres.
