@SPIRITintheBOTTLE So do you live in a hovel in the woods and feed yourself exclusively on wild plant matter? Because killing rodents is a part of modern agriculture for both ranching and growing crops. Would you prefer that they be poisoned and suffer for hours then get eaten by a scavenger that will then be sickened or killed? Stop branding yourself an urban elitist so removed from nature that you don't recognise where foods comes from.

@joheen57 that gopher and his family was living off that land before you or the cattle ranchers, killing is not a sport and should be done when you require meat to survive, which with all the comforts of modern living is unnecessary. you wouldn't like it if I started hunting your family or any other human? put down the weapons and stop branding yourself as an uneducated redneck hillBilly. Respect nature you can learn allot from it when its not destroyed.

Gophers here are like the plague. they cause all kinds of problems for the cattle. Ranchers are thrilled if you get rid of some some gophers for them.
