SINGAPORE: Presidential hopeful Dr Tan Cheng Bock said he will promote multi-racialism very strongly if he is elected as President.

Dr Tan was speaking after visiting the Pertapis Senior Citizens Fellowship Home on Sunday.

He said: "It [Multi-racialism] is in me. I think multi-racialism is a cornerstone of our Singapore's living. It is something very unifying. I think that is good for our country and we must continue to promote multiracialism."

Dr Tan was among the many Singaporeans who had turned up at the home, which is located in Toa Payoh, to give donations in kind.

He said he donated 10 cartons of biscuits to the some 35 residents at the home.

The donation drive was held in conjunction with the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan and initiated by MediaCorp's Malay radio channel, Warna 94.2FM.
