Inventions from Ancient China ~ Gunpowder

The ancient Chinese paid a great deal of attention to cultivating the mind and the body. In fact, even the fourth great invention from ancient China, gun powder, was accidentally found when the natural element, sulphur, was used in an attempt to create the elixir of life. Besides cultivation practice, gunpowder was also known to be used in Chinese medicine, fire crackers, and only later, warfare.

Speaking of wars, many dynasties came and went over the course of China's thousands of years of history. The rise and fall of its dynasties came about when the emperor of a dynasty was no longer virtuous. Back then, there was not a concept of politics, but rather people talked about the virtues required on how to administer a country and the merits necessary to rule as a king.


In today's Five Thousand Years segment we will introduce the invention of gunpowder.

@supersmash43 Many great inventions were discovered by "accident". And they were the first ones to use Gunpowder for weapons and military warfare, not just fireworks as some Westerners believe in their own ignorance.

@supersmash43 I agree steel is definitely one of the most important. But Gunpowder started it all...it is the foundation of everything onwards. Steel is important, but definitely not more important than Gunpowder, or anything else.

@VanillaSnow23 I would argue that steel was just as important if not more so than gunpowder because without steel there wouldn't be firearms. Besides discovery would be more accurate as a term because gunpowder was discovered by accident.
