"At a place called Truck Stop, I ate lunch. Truckers lean toward each other, eating pills, coffee, and starch. They look fat, vibrant, seething with bad health." [Leonard Michaels]
I used to think that maybe JT was a libertarian even though he grew up in Chapel, especially considering the lyrics of this song. Sadly, he was shucking around NC last year for Obama. I was pretty disappointed. I guess he's been living in NY & Mass for too long. This Bud's for you!
The man is a genius with lyrics. He relates perfectly to the working world, even though he grew up well-off. This song and the song "Millworker" (another song he wrote for this play, "Working") so well describe being trapped in a dead-end world.
Both "Brother Trucker" and "Mill Worker"(really great song) appear on his album FLAG May, 1979. This is must to have for JT fans. BSUR, Rainy Day Man, Up On the Roof, Sleep Come Free Me...every song is a jewel! One of his greatest personal struggling periods too, but prolific.
I read about his "acting experiment" in this and always wanted to see the full version. What a riot! So bizzare?! Thanks for the upload. Loved it!.
This song is very popular with young bloodclarts in my area...
...at least I think that is what they are always saying!

I've never seen this before. I guess JT's not much of an actor. Maybe in some parallel universe he is.
