I was told time and time again by dr's nurses, the hospital...no rectal temp taking. You can harm the baby, the ear ones are not accurate until about 3-4 years old when the ear temp stabilizes and foreheads are OK but the all recommended under arm thermometer.
Locke had his temp taken this way after his bath he cooled down. So just few hours after birth he was in SCBU where he was heated in a tent and then came back to me a few hours later. Discharged home at 24 hours old.

totally unnecessary to use rectal themometer there are other less invasive ways but doctors don't want you to know because they are very perverse!

I recomed you ti by a special PACIFIER which contains a DIGITAL THERMOMETER and it will work without problem.
