Dave's Gourmet makes allot of different varieties of hot sauces. ( http://www.davesgourmet.com ) This one in particular has a rich history of notoriety. INGREDIENTS: Hot peppers, tomato paste, hot pepper extract, salt, cane vinegar, onions, xanthan gum, garlic, citric acid, spices. How does it taste? Neither me or June found the taste enjoyable. It was very bitter and the chemical extract flavor kinda masked all the other ingredients. It is a dark colored sauce with a smooth texture. How about the heat? It was strong right off the bat and the heat kinda moved around, starting toward the back of the throat then moved it's way to the tongue and lastly the lips. The burn peaked at about the 3min mark and tapered off quickly. After 10min the mouth had a warm glow to it but very manageable. Well, we had to try it, so there you have it, Dave's Gourmet Insanity Sauce. Thanks to June for joining me and thank you for watching.

  • To me this stuff tastes like someone burned some tomato sauce, then scraped the crud out, mixed it with some cheap supermarket chili powder, maybe some crap chipotle sauce, added a bit of vinegar and filled the rest up with a nasty tasting extract.

It is fairly hot I guess.. but all that heat is in the extract the rest I think comes from dirt or something.. sure I've not done hundreds of hot sauces but this is the absolute worst tasting stuff... I am trying to find ways to hide it in stuff ick

  • @Zokambaa LOL, that's an interesting way of describing it, but I agree. It's not a delicious hot sauce. I like to give all the sauces their props but we don't really care for this sauce either. It's gotta a strange chemical flavor to the extract & the ingredients taste bitter (almost like it's burnt or way to smokey). I haven't used any of it since the taste test, if that tells you something. Can't imagine anything I wanna eat that matches up with it's flavor. Thanks for watching & the comment.

  • i think your dog fancied a taste aswell

  • @sextonqpr LOL, yea he thought he wanted some. I made some wicked hot wings a while back and he got into the trash afterwards. He went through about 3 gallons of water and I won't even go into the the aftermath, I'll just say I had a mess to clean up next morning. He gets a whiff of hot sauce now and backs away.

  • HATE the taste of this!!!! hot but makes me feel sick!

  • @discocreator76 Yea, it's got that bitter, chemical EXTRACT thing going. Not the best tasting sauce I've ever tried (to say the least).

  • @HIM0G Hahaha,Nasty with a "G". I agree with you, it's not a sauce I'd ever care to taste again & I haven't used any of it since the taste test. I can usually match up a sauce to a dish, but not with this one. We LOVE true Indian Food. There's only a couple places I know of local, but man are they good. The combination of flavors they put together in a dish is amazing. I will have to try the Vindaloo. Thanks for the tip. Also, thanks for watching & commenting.

  • @1Bonehed Had a taste of this sauce today...its a pretty horrible taste to say the least. I'll stick with my fresh chilli's i think. I like to make a paste/puree kind of thing out of thai birds eyes, habanero and jolokia peppers

  • Starting to see what you mean in regards to the extract flavour. Once you're used to the burn it becomes more apparent. Tried it in lots of things and have to say it's best use in tomato and chilli pasta dishes. Adds a good bit of heat but really didn't do much good in chilli con carne. Just had the extract flavour all the time and doesn't work with rice dishes at all. Pasta and lots of tomato it is then.

  • Hi Jared, ok I've finshed my pasta dish with Insanity Sauce. It's taken me over and hour to do it and my god I've never been as whacked out as I am right now. I'm still GENUINELY dizzy and doing lots of mistyping. Not sure if that's the hyperventilating or what but the rush is massive. But I did really like the flavour, even if you have to wait 5 mins at least between each mouthful. Sort of "this is nice, still nice, not so nice, REALLY not so nice" so next time I won't put such a big drop in.
