Begin the installation by placing the toilet bowl over the sewer flange with the mounting bolts passing through the openings in the toilet's base. You should feel the wax ring compress around the toilet's drainpipe.
Now that the base of the toilet is in place, take the plastic finishing washers and slide them wide side up, down the mounting bolts. Then place the metal washers and lock nuts on, tighten the first mounting bolt by hand until it is firmly in place. Do the same for the other mounting bolt. When both sides are hand tight, tighten both lock nuts securely using a socket wrench until the toilet does not move at all.

With the toilet securely mounted to the flooring the bolts can be trimmed to a quarter inch past the nut. Using a mini hacksaw carefully cut off the remainder of the mounting bolts so the entire bolt can be hidden under the plastic finishing cap. Once both bolts are cut, snap the plastic covers over the mounting bolts for a safe and finished look.

Now that the toilet's base has been securely mounted and connected to the sewer line the next phase in the installation is to properly attach the toilet tank. On new tanks the flush valve and fill valve will come preinstalled however, only the flush valve needs to be installed to properly mount the tank. Install the sponge gasket on the base of the flush valve assembly. Once in place lift the tank and set it on the base of the toilet lining up the tank mounting holes and flush valve opening.

Insert the metal washers and locking nuts onto the mounting bolts and screw in place. Once all the bolts are hand tightened use a socket wrench to evenly tighten all the bolts keeping the tank as upright as possible. The tank should be tightly mounted to the base of the toilet with the sponge gasket nicely compressed between the tank and the base.

After the toilet is assembled connect the water supply valve's tank hose to the shank of the fill valve assembly. Turn on the water supply valve and fill the tank of the toilet looking for any possible leaks between the base and the tank. Make adjustments to the water level or any internal parts if need be. When all adjustments are complete, cycle the toilet and reassure everything is in proper function.

Now if desired, a new toilet seat can be installed. To install a new toilet seat first place the rubber seals over the toilet seat mounting holes. Next place the toilet seat over the mounting holes and insert the metal washers and mounting bolts into the holes. Screw from the underside of the toilet the mounting bolt's lock nuts. Make sure that they are tight enough to hold the toilet seat securely in place. A screwdriver can aid in the tightening process. Ensure that the seat is securely mounted. Close the mounting caps over the mounting bolts for a finished look and the seat is now installed and ready to use.

  • I dont know whats worse. That carpet or the hairy fingers!

  • This was a great help, thanks for the video!

  • ew carpet in a bathroom? lol

  • I usually hit the wax ring with a hair dryer to get it real sticky then put that directly on the toilet to make sure it is centered over the drain hole on the toilet. Then I push that down onto the sewer flange. Kind of the same thing I guess, but I dont want any back pressure from the was ring being off center on the toilet.

  • Nice. I just bought this Kohler Woolworth today. This a very helpful set of how to videos.

  • i cant stand putting a toilet on with a rug in the broom haha
