PROPOSITION 8
This initiative measure is submitted to the people in accordance with the
provisions of Article II, Section 8, of the California Constitution.
This initiative measure expressly amends the California Constitution by
adding a section thereto; therefore, new provisions proposed to be added are
printed in italic type to indicate that they are new.
SECTION 1. Title
This measure shall be known and may be cited as the California Marriage
Protection Act.
SECTION 2. Section 7.5 is added to Article I of the California Constitution,
to read:

ARTICLE 1 DECLARATION OF RIGHTS

SEC. 4. Free exercise and enjoyment of religion without
discrimination or preference are guaranteed. This liberty of
conscience does not excuse acts that are licentious or inconsistent
with the peace or safety of the State. The Legislature shall make no
law respecting an establishment of religion.
A person is not incompetent to be a witness or juror because of
his or her opinions on religious beliefs.

  • you state pretty straight up that you have your own definition of marriage, which I respect at that. I believe the best non-reiligous reason for voting yes comes down to simple biology, that makes it self-evident that we are intended to wed a member of the opposite sex and be raised by our biological mother and father.

    Studies have shown that Gay parents and Lesbian Mothers are just as suitable to take care of kids as straight parents.

    Page 117 of the California supreme courts ruling states Affording samsex couple the opportunity to obtain the designation of marriage will not impinge on the religious freedom of any religious organization, official or any other person. No religious will be required to change its religious policies or practices with regard to samesex couples. And no religious efficient will be required perform a marriage that is in contradiction of his or her religious beliefs.
