Domestic robot plans its way to the kettle - University of Birmingham

In this video the University of Birmingham Intelligent Robotics Lab, acting as part of the EU-funded CogX consortium, demonstrate how their Dora the Explorer robot is able to use its own initiative to gather the knowledge necessary to carry out domestic tasks. The robot is able to explore unknown indoor environments and also search for objects to allow it to identify rooms (e.g. finding a kettle allows Dora to decide that it's in the kitchen).
